New -delhi, October 7 (IANS). The Indian Wrestling Federation on Tuesday suspended Aman Sehrawat, who won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics for a year. The 22 -year -old Sehrawat was disqualified for crossing the 57 kg of weight at the World Championships in Jagreb, Croatia, in September. Due to the suspension implemented from September 23, by September 2026, Sehrawat will not be able to participate in any activity related to national and international level. The suspension of Aman Sehrawat was confirmed by Sanjay Singh, president of the Indian Wrestling Federation. Sanjay Singh told Ians that a disciplinary notice had been sent to Aman Sehra that he could not give satisfactory answers. As a result, he was suspended. Sanjay Singh said: “The Wrestling Federation of India has announced that Aman’s Sehrawat has been suspended for violating weight rules. Effective from September 23, preventing this suspension from participating in national and international level in any wrestling activity.” On September 14, Sehrat attended the preparation camp in Porek, Croatia, 18 days before his scheduled match, which gave him enough time to maintain his weight and fitness level by rules. This is the third disciplinary event associated with an Indian wrestler within a year. Earlier, there were disputes over the withdrawal of Vinesh Phogat at the Paris Olympics and Neha Sangwan in the 2025 under-20 championships in 2025 due to unqualified due to similar issues related to weight compliance and fitness standards. The ban on one year is expected to have a significant impact on the career of Sehrawat, especially on his preparations for the 2026 Asian Games, where wrestling competitions should be held from September 30 to October 3. -Ians bag shares this story tags
