Head of the air staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, underlined the importance of synergy among India’s armed forces on August 26, saying that Operation Sindor showed how the three-services could work coherently without requiring major structural changes. “Operation Sindoor is a perfect example that we can function strongly together. Yes, what we need is a joint planning and coordination center in Delhi,” Singh said. The IAF chief spoke to the retired Lt Gen Raj Shukla during a ‘Fireside Chat’, attended by veterans, officials and media deputy representatives. He shared his view on power structure, command and the developing nature of modern warfare. ‘Air Force has accepted a primary role in warfare’ ‘until now that the deployment of the air force in any conflict amounts to the increase in the situation. But today, the Air Force has adopted a primary role in warfare. We are now using Air Force in an offensive way, and this role will continue to expand, ‘the IAF chief said, emphasizing that the readiness of the future was critical. “We need to be ready for tomorrow. Operation Sindoor has taken us from learning to readiness,” he said. Singh also noted that although technology has become central to modern warfare, it should not be the only focus. “Just producing drones is not enough. We also have to focus on other domains. But we must remember, we always relied on a man in the cabin,” he noted. ‘The introduction of clear objectives in conflict’ with reference to lessons from Operation Sindoor, the IAF chief emphasized its importance to conflict clear goals. ‘In any warfare, the choice of the mission is critical. You need to know where to stop as soon as the goal is reached. Why should we continue beyond that point? ‘ “We said earlier that we are a peace -loving country, we cannot be offensive. But now the time has changed. ‘ Operation Sindoor is a perfect example that we can work strongly together. The first day of ‘Ran Samwad 2025’ contains senior army officials, fleet and air force, who have analyzed global conflicts and discussed India’s future approach to warfare. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to speak to the Tri-Services conference, the second day of the event today. (With ani inputs)
