One dead, three injured in fire in Mumbai's Cuffe Parade area

Mumbai, October 20 (IANS). A tragic accident took place in the early hours of Monday on Captain Prakash Pethe Road in Mumbai’s Cuffe Parade area. A fire broke out on the first floor of a one plus one chawl. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Fire Brigade (MFB) immediately informed about it, after which the fire was brought under control, but one person died and three others were injured in the accident. The fire spread to a large area. The reason for the accident is not yet clear, but in the preliminary investigation there is a possibility of fire due to a short circuit in the electrical wires. According to the information received, four people who were injured in the accident were immediately taken to the St. taken to George Hospital. According to the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of the hospital, 15-year-old Yash Vitthal Khot was declared dead. Devendra Chaudhary (30) has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) where his condition remains critical. Viraj Khot (13) and Sangram Kurne (25) were also hospitalized, but their condition is said to be stable. BMC fire brigade, Mumbai police, BEST employees and 108 ambulance service immediately reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations. His quick action prevented the fire from spreading. BMC issued an update on the incident at 6:45 am. In the meantime, the police and fire department are investigating the matter so that the exact cause of the fire can be found out.
