A video of the incident has surfaced on the internet media, in which a teacher can be seen being surrounded by students and being pushed and shoved in the presence of policemen in the principal’s room. Many teachers condemned this incident and called it an attack on the dignity of teachers. The Democratic Teachers Front (DTF) said the teacher who was attacked was Sujit Kumar, convener of the college’s disciplinary committee, which investigates complaints of violence between students in the college. Both Indian National Teachers Congress (INTC) and Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) condemned the incident and demanded an impartial probe. DUTA has addressed a letter to the Vice-Chancellor saying that violence in any form is unacceptable in democratic institutions. This is a direct attack on the dignity of a teacher. At the same time, student leader Deepika Jha said that she had gone to the college to speak about the complaint of misbehavior and assault filed by the students against the teacher.
