CCPA instructed e-commerce businesses within 3 months to make self-audit to detect dark patterns

New -delhi, June 7 (IANS). The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) provided an advisory advisory on Saturday to make all e-commerce platforms themselves to find misleading and inappropriate trading practices that are the nature of dark patterns. Dark patterns are designed elements used to mislead users on websites and apps to mislead or choose unexpected options. These practices eliminate consumer confidence, distort the dynamics of the fair market and pose a serious threat to the integrity of digital trade. The CCPA said: “All e-commerce platforms have been advised to identify self-audit to identify dark patterns within three months of the advisory issue and take the necessary steps to ensure that their platforms are free of such dark patterns.” Based on the self-leakage examination report, the e-commerce firm “self-declaration can make that their platform is not involved in any dark pattern.” The regulatory body said that self-disorder would enable a fair digital ecosystem, along with confidence between consumers and e-commerce platforms. The CCPA mentions that it also sent a notice to the e-commerce platform on cases of dark patterns that violate guidelines for prevention and regulation of dark patterns.
