Its aim is to make OTT content accessible to people with disabilities. The government is considering making features such as audio description, subtitles and sign language interpretation mandatory. The guidelines are made inclusive after consultation with stakeholders. The government will release it soon. The central government on Thursday informed the Delhi High Court that it will finalize accessibility guidelines for hearing and visually impaired persons on over-the-top (OTT) platforms in the next three months. The government also told the bench of Justice Sachin Dutta that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has published the draft guidelines on its official website for comments from stakeholders and the public. With the above facts on record, the bench said that if the petitioner has any complaint regarding the preparation of the guidelines, he can raise it at the appropriate forum. With this, the bench dismissed the petition.
