Bengaluru, October 9 (IANS). Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaah appreciates that the state is doing the best work in Asia to fill the lakes with water. He spoke after introducing the ‘Jal Hai to Kal Hai’ program organized by the minor irrigation department at the Banquet Hall on Thursday. He said that civilization only developed and survived through water. Minister Bosaraju, on behalf of the department, prepares good programs among the people regarding water use, water value and groundwater conservation. It’s a good thing. He called on the public to be assured of the need for water and the status of water. He said groundwater is used by 37 lakh boreholes in the state. There are also lakhs of unauthorized boreholes that are not recorded. He said there are reports that their use is 8 percent more than the national average. Except for 144 Talukas, the remaining talukas with water and groundwater shortage are. Therefore, KC value project was implemented to fill the lakes of Kar and Chikkaballapur. It has now increased the groundwater level, but some people are also opposed. He said we spent thousands of crores rupees to increase the groundwater level in Chikkaballapur, Doddaballapur, Tumkur and Bengaluru rural districts. He appreciates that this has led to a good increase in the groundwater level. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, Law Minister HK Patil, Minor’s Minister of Irrigation NS Bosaraju, Forest and Environment Minister Ishwar Khandre, KKR DB Chairman Ajay Singh, Magsaysay -award -winning Environment Rajendra Singh and many other dignitaries were present. Earlier, he said that the purpose of our government is to strengthen Karnataka’s infrastructure in a phased way.
