Assam Sports few judge preparations for international cricket meetings in Guwahati
Guwahati, August 27 (PTI) Assam Minister of Sport and Youth Welfare, Nandita Garlosa, has reviewed the preparations for two emerging international cricket opportunities to be held in Guwahati. The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and the second Test series between India and South Africa will be held here in October and November respectively. A meeting in this regard was held Tuesday night. The meeting, chaired by Garlosa, was attended by general secretary Ravi Kota, the Council of Cricket Board of India (BCCI), Devajit Saikia, officials of the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) and senior officials of the state’s sports division. The 13th edition of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, offered by India and Sri Lanka, will for the first time consider Guwahati as one of the most important local. The BCCI secretary said four ICC women’s cricket World Championships 2025 matches on September 30, 3, 7 and 10 would be at the ACA Barsapara cricket stadium on September 30, 3, 7 and 10 years old. All the matches are from 50 overs, which are scheduled from 15:30 to 23:30, and there is also a possibility that one semi -final will be held on October 29 in Guwahati or Colombo, he said. The second Test series between India and South Africa will also be played in Guwahati from November 22. A T20 league game is scheduled for next year next year, Saikia said. The general secretary said that all wings of the Department of Public Works (PWD) were instructed to do the necessary work to ensure world -class infrastructure and facilities. Dedicated teams from the PWD and the traffic police will be deployed to manage event -related logistics, he said. All the relevant departments were instructed to prepare detailed plans and ensure the timely execution of their assigned responsibilities for the smooth behavior of these prestigious events. “Assam is proud to host these landmark matches, which Guwahati will put on the international cricket card and demonstrate the state’s readiness to deliver world -class sports infrastructure and world -class experiences,” Kota said.
