Mount Marapi bursts out
Jakarta – Mount Marapi, who is in the Agam and Tanah Datar districts, West Sumatra (Sumbar), broke out this afternoon. This eruption released volcanic axis to a height of 1,500 meters or 1.5 kilometers from the top of the peak. Head of the Marapi Volcano Observation Post (PGA) Ahmad Rifandi said the eruption took place on Thursday (9/10/2025) at 12.18 WIB. Volcanic axis of the eruption of Mount Marapi is northeast. “An eruption of Mount Marapi, West Sumatra, took place on October 9, 2025 on 12.18 WIB with the height of the ascolom observed at 1,500 meters above the peak,” Rifandi told journalists, as reported by Detiksumut, Thursday (9/10). Browse to continue with the content “It was observed that the ascolom gray in color was with a thick intensity leaning to the northeast. This eruption was recorded on the seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 24.9 millimeters and a 1 minute duration 34 seconds,” he said. He said the eruption could affect residents’ health. Therefore, residents are expected to always wear masks or mouth coverings if they do activities outside the home. “We need to be careful of as rain, so we recommend that residents use masks or mouth coverings in every activity,” he said. Mount Marapi is currently at level II or warning status.
