Paytm Upi to stop working from August 31? What the company said on Google Play Alerts
Paytm made clear on Friday that a notice of Google Play that recently panicked among users regarding the UPI handle changes were incomplete and possibly led to confusion. The payments and FinTech Company, led by Vijay Shekhar Sharma, emphasized that there will be no disruption to users when paying on PayTM payments. Both consumer and merchant transactions will remain seamless, it says. Paytm has made it clear that it is only relevant to recurring payments such as subscription billing. “That means that if a user pays for YouTube Premium or Google One Storage or to any recurring platform via Paytm Upi, they simply have to change their old @paytm handle to the new handle connected to their bank, @pthdfc, @ptaxis, @Ttyes of @PTSBI,” Paytm said. For example, if an upi -id rajesh@paytm was, it will now be rajesh@pthdfc or rajesh@ptsbi (or according to the bank). However, one-time UPI payments are not affected and continue as usual. Paytm noted that this transition is part of its migration to new UPI handles, after approval of the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to work as a third -party application provider (TPAP). Paytm said reassuring customers that it is a simple update to ensure uninterrupted repetitive payments, while all other UPI transactions on the app continue without any change. What was the Google Play Notice? A recent notice from Google Play has panicked among users that Paytm UPI will no longer be available. Google Play issued the warning because the deadline for updating repetitive mandates is on August 31, 2025. “On August 31, @paytm UPI handles will be taken down and will not be an accepted form of payment on Google Play. This is according to the National Payment Corporations of India (NCPI) according to the instructions of the National Payment Corporations of India (NCPI),” the new rule will come into effect from 1 September. -More users who make recurring payments via @paytm UPI handles can do one of the following: Update their recurring payments to a new Paytm Upi -connected to their bank.
