Pamela Anderson was keeping a secret all summer long.
Between the press tour for her movie Naked Gun and starring in a production of the Tennessee Williams play Camino Real, the actress is wrapping up one of her busiest seasons yet.
Through it all, Anderson, 58, relied on her skincare brand Sonsie‘s latest launch to keep her looking and feeling her best. The star calls Adapt Creama peptide-packed barrier cream, the “missing piece of the puzzle.”
“I didn’t want to add any more products to the line unless they were going to be out of this world and have a lot of benefits; immediate benefits and then also long-term benefits,” Anderson tells PEOPLE. “This ticked all the boxes.”
Adapt Cream’s green tint offers instant redness reduction while the formula contains nourishing ingredients like Bacillus Ferment, which grows in a river in Spain coined “Mars on Earth.” It’s believed to boost cell regeneration and hydration, thereby strengthening the protective outer layer of the skin, aka the skin barrier. The cream also features an Adaptive Tripeptide Blend proven to not only increase collagen production but also preserve it against UV degradation.
Anderson has only further embraced her makeup-free lifestyle thanks to Adapt Cream, which was created with her less-is-more beauty philosophy in mind.
“I am out in the world with no makeup 99 percent of the time, unless I’m doing a movie or theater,” she says. “When you’re on a red carpet and you’re being photographed by all these digital cameras, you are very vulnerable and exposed. I thought, ‘What does real skin look like out there in the wild, really?’ You’re really putting yourself out there. And I like it better. I think it’s nice to see even in a kind of harsh environment.”

She continues: “If I have a skincare line, I’m going to show my skincare, because I actually feel really good about it. I feel like I look better without makeup, but I do like looking different with makeup.”
Adapt Cream’s packaging is every bit as intentional as its formula. It marks Sonsie’s first product to debut in fully biodegradable, plastic-free packaging. Made from Vivomer, a pioneering bio-based material grown by microbes instead of petroleum, the jar is home-compostable, microplastic-free and safe for soil.
The brand collaborated with biomaterials pioneer Shellworks to bring the innovation to life.
“I can throw it in my garden compost,” Anderson says. “This is very new technology. I was really excited that we’ve put a lot into product development and research when it comes to sustainability in packaging. I’m very proud of this product overall.”

“It’s collaboration, not competition, that’s going to drive this industry forward when it comes to sustainability,” Sonsie’s newly appointed CEOKailey Bradt, says in a press release. “Sonsie is setting a new standard for beauty brands with this move, and I hope to see other brands join us in embracing innovation.”

Anderson’s Vancouver Island garden is the impetus behind all of her creative endeavors.
“Everything for me is inspired by my garden. I think the garden is a metaphor for life,” she explains. “Anytime I do a film, it starts in the garden. I go into the garden and I get so much information.”
She continues: “I just feel like I’m rooted in my garden and I’m making decisions based on what is good for that place in my life, that’s the ethos, that’s the north star and that’s what makes me happy.”
There’s no shortage of happiness for Anderson these days.
“I feel very fulfilled right now with my career and my life,” says the actress, who has three upcoming film projects lined up. “I feel very appreciated and excited and seen kind of in a new way. I’m excited about working.”
She adds: “I always say people, to be in love with life, to be in love is the most beautiful thing you can be. I say love is a decision. It’s not just a feeling. And I think that’s the crème la crème.”
