Park will have to be evacuated after Durga Puja within 14 days, 'KMC' has given instructions to worship committees
Kolkata, September 13 (IANS). The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) issued a clear assignment to the Durga Puja committees on Saturday that whatever the park would be used for the Puja pavilion, it would be compulsory for the ordinary people to open them within 14 days of Vijayadashami. A KMC official said that when the Puja committees are allowed to build a pavilion in the park, the condition is applied that the park should be opened to the use of ordinary people as soon as possible after worship is over. The municipal corporation took this step, as it was seen in previous years that many parks were closed to Durga Puja long. Pooja committees delay the removal of the pavilion and its structure, which causes the locals problems. Local residents have complained several times at KMC that the closure of the park disrupted the elderly tour and disrupted the game of children. Especially due to bamboo and other construction material, it makes it difficult to walk in the park. The MLA and Mayor-in Course of the Garden Division at KMC, Devashish Kumar, took this issue seriously. He instructed the worship committees through oral order that if a pavilion was built in a park, it should be completely removed within 14 days of Vijayadashami. Devashish Kumar said: “Parks are the property of the general public. Permission is allowed, but under the conditions the park will have to be returned to the ordinary population in time. This time will be taken strict steps if the rules are not accepted.” He also said: “Kali Puja is also organized to Durga Puja in many parks. If the pavilion does not go on time, the preparations for Kali Puja will also be affected. Every year, it is observed that some large parks such as Jagat Mukherjee Park, Kumhartoli Park, Deshpriya Park, Khidirpur 25 Palli, Santosh Mitra Square, Pratapaditya Road Triangle Park and Jatin Das Park stay for a long time. -Ians vku/ share these story tags
