Patna, October 22 (IANS). Chhath Puja, the great festival of folk faith, is going to start from October 25. This four-day puja begins on October 25 with ‘Nahae Khae’. This festival will end by offering ‘Kharna’ on 26th October, Arghya to the setting sun on 27th October and Arghya to the rising sun on 28th October. Chhath Puja is considered one of the toughest fasts as the devotees observe a waterless fast for 36 hours. In this festival, Surya and Chhathi Maiya are worshipped, which is a symbol of faith and devotion for the devotees. Preparations for this grand festival are in full swing in Patna. The teams of District Administration and Municipal Corporation are busy cleaning and arranging the ghats so that people do not face any problem at the ghats and they can perform Chhath Puja. Municipal Corporation official Manoj Kumar, while talking to IANS, said that work is being done by marking many Ganga ghats. There are some challenges in the barrage at Bans Ghat due to the low water level of Ganga, but all the ghats will be secured before ‘Nahay Khae’. He said that arrangements are being made for lights, parking, medical team, drinking water, changing rooms and bathrooms at the ghats. At Bans Ghat, the devotees will have to walk only 700 meters to reach Ganga. Manoj Kumar said that along with the workers, machines have also been deployed at the ghats, so that the work can be completed as soon as possible. The road will be fixed in one to two days. Due to flood there was excessive erosion on the ghats, this is being rectified. Considering the depth of water, an information board will also be installed so that people do not enter deep water. The district administration has taken all necessary steps for the comfort and safety of the devotees, so that this festival is celebrated with joy. Special arrangements are made for the safety of women at each ghat. Police administration in civil clothes will be deployed at each ghat. –IANS –SAK/DSC Share this story Tags
