Sharad Pawar, a Supremo of the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar), supported the claims of the candidates interested in government work to increase the number of vacancies for the upcoming joint preliminary exam (JPE) of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). He assured a delegation of candidates that he would raise his concern before Chief Minister of Devendra Fadnavis. Potential prescribed for September is a common preliminary investigation for posts such as the JPE Police Subinspector (PSI), State Tax Inspector (STI) and Assistant Divisional Officer (ASO). Pawar said on social media platform X: “This exam is written after two years, but only 480 vacancies have been announced, which are insufficient.” He argued that the increase in vacancies would be in line with the recent decision to increase the merit age limit for MPSC candidates.
