Pension problem, digital system failed for elderly citizens

Two elderly residents of the Fatehabad district are caught in strange pension -related errors, emphasizing the serious defects of the digital record system. 73 -year -old Mahavir Singh of Saniana Village was shocked in July 2025 that he was officially pronounced dead in the family identity card system, and took away his age pension and other benefits. Singh said this error was probably due to the error of the digital system. Singh said: “When I went to pension renewal, the authorities told me that my wife and I were listed as the deceased. But only my wife passed away last year – I live.” He filed a written complaint with the Deputy Commissioner of Fatehabad and acted against the responsible population. “My whole family is suffering because of this mistake,” he said. He said that financial and emotional stress arose because of the closure of pension. His son, Saath Kumar, said his work was influenced by repeated rounds of government offices and that the family’s problems were increasing further. Local residents and social workers condemned the incident and requested the administration to resolve Singh’s case soon. In response to the dispute, Public Relations Officer Sandeep said the problem occurred because Singh’s Aadhaar card was not updated in the PPP (Family ID) system. He assured that Singh’s pension would be restored as soon as the Aadhaar details were updated. Meanwhile, another resident of the town, Harpal Singh, is struggling with an equally unusual mistake. He recently received a call from the Social Welfare Division stating that his ‘unmarried pension’ has been approved – this scheme is only reserved for unmarried individuals. The problem is that Harpal is married, that they have two children and that they live with their joint family. Share this story -tags
