PKP minister encourages East Java to become second largest province to absorb subsidized housing

Surabaya – Minister of Housing and Settlements (PKP), Maruarar Sirait (Ara) encourages cross-sector synergy to strengthen the public housing financing ecosystem. Ara also encouraged East Java (Jatim) to become the second largest province in terms of uptake of subsidized housing. Ara conveyed this in the Socialization of People’s Business Credit (KUR) for Housing with Semen Indonesia Group (SIG), BRI and BTN in Surabaya, Thursday (16/10/2025). This event was also attended by Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), Minister of Interior Tito Karnavian, Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Deputy Governor Emil Dardak, Mayor of Surabaya Eri Cahyadi, and Chief Director of SIG Indrieffoun, with participants 1.00. SCROLL TO CONTINUE CONTENT Ara said collaboration between the government, banks, contractors, developers and builders’ shops is important to accelerate the spread of KUR in the housing sector. He believes that East Java can become the province with the second largest absorption of subsidized housing. “I am sure that by the end of December East Java will be the second largest uptake of subsidized housing and KUR housing nationally. It can all be successful if we trust each other, banks, contractors, developers and building shops. I also thank the Coordinating Minister for support, the Minister of Interior Affairs. Ara also shared his plans with the governor of East Java and the mayor of Surabaya to immediately build vertical housing in the city of Surabaya. He hopes that subsidized vertical housing can help the people. “Hopefully in Surabaya we can also build subsidized houses in vertical form in the form of apartments, because in Surabaya land is already expensive, so we want to work together on the financing scheme, land scheme, technical and legal aspects,” said Ara.
