Police arrested supplier with 5 kg of heroin in Amritsar

Amritsar, October 23 (IANS). The Punjab Police swung into action in Amritsar and disrupted a cross-border drug smuggling network. The police arrested drug kingpin Rajpal Singh in this operation. 5 kg 25 grams of heroin was recovered from his possession. While providing information to IANS, Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that in the preliminary investigation it has become clear that Rajpal Singh was in touch with handlers in Pakistan. He used to get the consignment of drugs in India through the Dera Baba Nanak sector. Bhullar said that earlier the arrested accused was also wanted in several cases related to drug trafficking and his name came up in the cases of Maqboolpura police station and Batala. He said that earlier 3 kg 154 grams of heroin was recovered from one accused Lucky, during whose investigation the name of Rajpal Singh came to light. Investigation revealed that Rajpal Singh was active for the past four to five months and received large consignments from across the border several times. He used to supply these drugs to Jalandhar, Ludhiana and other cities by hiding them in sacks and cloth bags. Police Commissioner said that another local person has also been arrested in this case. During the interrogation, numerous new names and contacts came to light, whose investigation is ongoing. Police hope to make more arrests in the coming days. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said the police are investigating this whole case and consider it a “big narco cartel”. He said the focus of the investigation is to find out how these drugs were brought from Pakistan, through which routes they were transported to India and to whom they were supplied. He said that we are breaking the entire chain of this network.
