Police check cell phones of Unud students who committed suicide, this is their goal

Jakarta – The suicide case of a Udayana University (Unud) student with the initials TAS (21) is still being investigated by the police. Currently, the police are still investigating the contents of TAS’s cell phone and laptop to obtain evidence that led to TAS ending his life. “We are still investigating the contents of (the victim’s) mobile phone and laptop. That is what we are currently investigating,” Bali Police Public Relations Chief Commissioner Ariasandy said in his office, as reported by detikBali, Friday (24/10/2025). Ariasandy said TAS were students who had mental health issues. This condition will occur if it is caused by something or someone that does not meet TAS’s expectations. This was known from the examination of 21 witnesses. PAGE TO CONTINUE CONTENT The witnesses, the majority of whom were lecturers and other students, admitted that they often saw TAS angry and threatening to commit suicide by jumping from a height. This happened when TAS was deemed to have made a mistake during his lecture activities or his daily activities when hanging out with his friends. Still, Ariasandy said, the symptoms of mental disorders didn’t last long. TAS’s condition can usually return to normal after being calmed down by the lecturer or friends. From the witnesses’ statements, efforts must be made to extract evidence from TAS’s mobile phone and laptop to find out with certainty what else led to TAS behaving strangely and finally committing suicide by jumping from the 4th floor of his campus building. “If we find no criminal elements from the results of the investigation, it means that it was not a criminal incident. It was pure suicide. The case can be closed,” explained the former head of public relations of the NTT regional police. “If there is someone who causes this, we will file a case, and we will raise the case to investigation level. That person can be considered the trigger,” Ariasandy added. Read more here. (fas/fas)
