Jakarta – Member of the House of Representatives Commission I of the PKS faction Sukamta expressed his deeply condolences to the death of the highest leader of the Catholic Church and head of the Pope Francis of the Vatican. Sukamta hopes that Pope Francis’s struggle against the Palestinian people will continue. “We express our deepest condolences and sincere sympathy for the Catholic Church all over the world and to all Christians. Pope Francis is a person who perseveres in the promotion of interfaith dialogue, peace and rejection of hatred, racism and violence,” Sukamta said in his statement, Tuesday (4/22/2025). Sukamta said that Pope Francis was known as the moral voice of the world during his leadership. Where he said, Pope Francis rejected all forms of war and cruelty to humanity, including the Palestinian population. We have called on the unfinished whale mission, namely the stop of oppression and genocide in Palestine, continued by all parties who loved humanity,” he said. Sukamta also invited the people of Indonesia and the international community to continue the spirit of Pope Francis in maintaining global justice. Especially, he said, in defending the rights of the Palestinian people, still experienced colonialism and violence of Israel. “Hopefully Pope Francis’s moral example will be an inspiration between faith to unite against injustice. The world should not be silent against the genocide that took place in Palestine,” he said. Pope Francis is on Monday (4/21) at 88 years old after greeting the people on Easter day before. Pope Francis was treated in hospital for pneumonia for a month. Pope Francis asked to be buried with simple wooden crates and buried outside the Vatican. Pope Francis will be the first pope buried outside the Vatican for more than a century. Usually, the deceased pope is buried in underground caves in Santo Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, as reported by CNN and Reuters on Monday (4/21).
