Prabowo believes that 8% economic growth can be achieved through the MBG program

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto revealed that the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program can create 1.5 million jobs. He is confident that the economic growth target of 8% can be achieved. Prabowo made this statement in a dialogue session with the Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Media, Steve Forbes, at the Forbes Global CEO Conference 2025 which took place on Wednesday (15/10) in St. Regis, Jakarta, was held. “I think 8% growth is very achievable. For example, with this MBG program alone, we directly created 1.5 million jobs. There are 30,000 kitchens and each kitchen employs around 50 people. That means 1.5 million direct jobs,” said Prabowo. PAGE TO CONTINUE CONTENT Apart from job opportunities, Prabowo said MBG is also causing the formation of new supply chains that empower farmers, livestock breeders, fishermen and small businesses around production locations. So people’s purchasing power naturally increases. “Each kitchen creates about 15 new local entrepreneurs. Some sell eggs, vegetables, fish, meat, another salt. And each of them has 5, 10 or 15 workers,” he added. “When people have money, what do they do? They buy shoes, clothes, fix up their house, maybe buy a motorcycle or television. So I think that’s how it’s done,” he continued. (eva/deck)
