Jakarta – President Prabowo Subiantto attended a virtual meeting of the leaders of the Brics member state. Prabowo expressed his opinion that Brics became one of the most important pillars for stability and hope amid the international geopolitical dynamics. “It is a great honor for me to join this very important meeting. Indonesia considers Brics as a very strong pillar for stability and hope in the current international geopolitical situation,” Prabowo was quoted by the presidential secretariat bureau on Monday (8/9/2025). Prabowo emphasized that with a scope of more than 55 percent of the world population and more than 40 percent of the global gross domestic product (GDP), Brics has now been transformed as a strategic force with the largest economy, the largest population, the largest market and abundant natural resources. That’s why Brics has increasingly emerged as a pool. Indonesia supports the continuation of this role,” he said. Furthermore, Prabowo emphasizes the importance of openness, coordination and close cooperation in dealing with global uncertainty. Prabowo believes that Brics has a moral responsibility to become a motorcycle to create a more fair and balanced world order. “We have to continue and work together. We need to consult each other more frequently,” he said. Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia’s full support for different initiatives produced in the Brics forum. He also appreciated Brazilian President Lula da Silva who held the Brics leadership in 2025. “We fully support the initiatives taken. We appreciate the leadership of President Lula and Indonesia, which is committed to working closer with all Brics countries,” he said. Through this active participation, Indonesia shows a commitment to strengthen the solidarity between countries and encourage the formation of international cooperation that is more inclusive, fair and sustainable.
