Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto referred to the role of the United Nations (UN) for Indonesian independence. Prabowo said the UN stands together to help Indonesia. Prabowo initially said the state of the Indonesian people was colonized for centuries. “My country knows this pain. For centuries, Indonesians live under domination, oppression and colonial slavery. We have been treated lower than dogs in our own homeland. Our Indonesians know what it means not to get justice,” Prabowo said in his remarks by AFP on the live broadcast of the YouTube secretariat of the president’s secret, Tuesday (9/23/2025). Prabowo also emphasizes Solidarity in gaining independence and overcoming hunger for poverty. “We also know what Solidarity can do in our struggle to gain independence, in our struggle to overcome hunger, illness and poverty,” he said. Prabowo referred to the role of the United Nations, which was established with the Indonesian state to provide assistance, including the legitimacy of independence. Due to the help, Prabowo said that the Indonesian population was independent and prosperous at this time. “The United Nations stands at Indonesia and offers very important help to us. Decisions taken here are based on humanitarian solidarity by the Security Council and the meeting to give Indonesia independence, international legitimacy,” he said. “And that’s why Indonesia is currently at the peak of joint wealth, as well as greater equality and dignity,” he added.
