Prabowo's spotlight on attackers and reserve ministers

Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto compared the Red and White Cabinet to a football team. Because, Prabowo said there were ministers who were designated as strikers and became reserves. Prabowo made this statement in his introduction to the plenary cabinet meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (20/10/2025). This cabinet meeting was held to coincide with one year of the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka administration. Prabowo’s speech began by thanking ministers, deputy ministers, agency heads and presidential advisers who have worked hard for a year running the government. PAGE TO CONTINUE CONTENT “But the point is that I thank you. If it was as if we were a football team, I could be considered a manager, coach, you are players,” Prabowo said in front of his ‘helpers’. Prabowo admitted that at the beginning of this government there were ministers who were used as strikers or had the task of quickly achieving the best results. Prabowo also said there are those who still have ‘reserve’ status or have not yet played optimally. “Brothers and sisters, in these first rounds, in our early days, there were strikers, there were defenders. There were those who were reserves, who were still waiting to be played optimally,” Prabowo said. “Even though I understand that you took the initiative to move individually, I thank you. But I understand, there is something that I use first as a striker to get the best results quickly,” he added. Prabowo invited his team to be grateful for their hard work so far. He also apologized for sometimes taking leave from his subordinates. “Brothers, we should be grateful that, in my opinion, we worked very hard. For that I also apologize, especially to your family, because I often take your rest days,” Prabowo said. Prabowo Thinks of ‘Nostalgic’ Retreat Prabowo is also nostalgic for last year’s cabinet retreat. Prabowo was inaugurated as president on 20 October. The next day, October 21 and 22, Prabowo inaugurated his cabinet members. A cabinet retreat was then held at the Megelang Military Academy on 24-28 October. “Of course I was inaugurated on the 20th (October 2024), on the 21st (October 2024) I inaugurated the brothers, then if I am not mistaken on the 22nd (October 2024) I inaugurated the representatives, after that we said Prabore immediately went to Magelang.” Prabowo then thought of holding another cabinet retreat. He assessed that his cabinet members missed sleeping in tents. “I think, maybe after a year I might need another retreat,” he said. “You seem nostalgic for wanting to live in a tent,” Prabowo continued.
