Jakarta – DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung spoke about the practice of abusing kiosk rental permits at Barito Market, South Jakarta. Pramono does not want to question previous conditions and instead focuses on restructuring so that market land use is fairer. “The point is, at Barito Market, I have really good intentions to give space and opportunities to traders. I actually heard that,” Pramono said in East Jakarta on Saturday (18/10/2025). He emphasized that he does not want to highlight the irregularities that have occurred before and prefers to solve them with a solution approach. According to him, the arrangement should be carried out without causing riots or harming small traders. Scroll to continue content “I don’t want to worry too much about it. I have prepared a good, decent place in Lenteng Agung, so now of course they are expected to finish it soon,” he said. It is said that the relocation of some traders is a step that will be taken so that the Barito market area can be improved. The DKI Provincial Government is also pushing to reorganize the area into a more open public space. Previously, the DKI Jakarta PPKUKM service revealed the practice of abusing kiosk rental permits at Barito Market, South Jakarta. Of the total 158 kiosks, 58.9 percent or 93 kiosks were reportedly controlled by a handful of traders and leased to small traders. Head of the DKI Jakarta PPKUKM service, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo, said there were traders who even controlled up to 15 kiosks simultaneously. This practice is found almost everywhere on the block, from pet zones, fruit and parcels, to cuisine. “In the last few years, 58.9 percent or 93 stalls out of a total of 158 stalls in Barito Market were controlled by just a few traders,” Ratu said in a statement on Friday (17/10). “Based on data in the field, a number of traders were suspected of abusing Barito Market kiosk rental permits. It appears that one trader can control 10 to 15 kiosks, which they then lease to small traders,” he continued. According to data, the practice of misuse of kiosk rental permits occurs in almost all Barito Market kiosk blocks. For example, in Block JS25, which is a pet trading area, 68.2 percent or 58 of the total 85 stalls are controlled by just 17 traders. “In this kiosk block, there is one trader who controls 15 kiosks and then rents them out to second parties, as if these kiosks were privately owned,” he said.
