Prime Minister Modi led India on a different path of development in 11 years: Gautam Singhania

New Delhi, October 17 (IANS). Raymond Group Chairman Gautam Singhania said on Friday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done a good job in the last 11 years. He has put India on a different path and should be appreciated for what he has done so far. Speaking to IANS on the sidelines of the NDTV World Summit 2025, Singhania said he is a big supporter of Prime Minister Modi as he believes the country has found its place under his leadership. Praising India’s middle class and consumption potential, the Raymond Group chairman said it has helped India grow even during the COVID-19 pandemic. “India’s consumption story is very strong because we have a resilient middle class. When Covid came, the world was affected, but India survived because we have a very strong middle class,” Singhania emphasized. He said that we survived the world during the Covid era, and at that time we didn’t even have much export. He further said that such strong consumption stories are helping India continue its growth from strength to strength. Singhania said the recent GST reforms have brought essential products under the purview, which is a pioneering initiative. “I think the GST reforms announced by the government last month have been phenomenal. You are already seeing increased consumption, especially in the auto sector, etc.,” he said. He further said, “GST reforms were necessary and implemented on time. GST reforms have the potential to neutralize concerns about US tariff hikes. To a large extent, it will address tariff concerns, and I commend the government for this.” Sachin Jain, Regional CEO (India), World Gold Council, said that India is truly at the forefront of development and we are all lucky to be in this wonderful country at this time. Speaking to IANS, he said that our country is not only the fourth largest economy in the world, but we are also the fastest growing economy. What will happen in our country in the next two decades will be amazing. It will be something that has never been seen before. Jain emphasized that the Prime Minister’s vision of a developed India will make India a $30 trillion economy, which means every Indian will have $12,000 to $15,000 a year to spend and invest. –IANS Ms/abm
