The case of sexual violence in Indonesia that continues to store is our general homework,” Puan Maharani said in his statement on Wednesday (4/16/2024). There should be no tolerance for practicing sexual crime in healthcare facilities,” he said. Puan emphasized that the doctor’s examination room, especially the obstetrician, should be a safe place for women. Puan asked the Ministry of Health to evaluate the mechanism for supervision of the practice of doctors and patient protection in Indonesia. “This matter is a strong alarm for health workers’ supervision system. The government must guarantee that every citizen, especially women, can get a safe, dignified and free of harassment,” Puan said. Puan also encouraged police to thoroughly investigate the case of doctors in Garut, who were later discussed widely. Puan said the offenders should be punished accordingly. “Law enforcement officers should also find the possibility of other victims who have not reported due to trauma or pressure,” Puan said. The chairman of the PDIP DPP also emphasized the alleged sexual harassment of a teacher in one of the private natural resources in depok by at least 16 students from August 2024 to March 2025. “Sexual harassment in the school environment has always torn conscience, which has left a pain for all of us because of crime that is still innocent and wages,” says Puan. “Children who have to grow in a sense of safety and loving in the school environment are actually victims of sexual violence that educators and protectors must be for them,” he continued. Puan criticized the attitude of the school that solved only problems through mediation and statement, without a fixed step in the form of legal reports or dismissal of the offenders. Puan assesses that the approach is a form of neglecting the safety of children. “Mediation cannot be a solution to sexual crimes against children. We are not resolving conflict between neighbors. It is a form of violence that needs to be thoroughly investigated, not covered or muted,” Puan said. “Ministries and related institutions must ensure that the problem of alleged sexual violence in the educational environment is thoroughly investigated,” he added. As is well known, the rape case took place by PPDs Unpad resident, Priguna Anugerah Pratama, 31, to the patient’s family at Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung. The public has not yet been completed in the investigation into the PPDS resident case, and is now being highlighted the harassment alleged by the doctor ObGyn in Garut, West Java.
