Prohibition of protests in Bangladesh, but still the Awami League members took up the streets, slogans in support of Sheikh Hasina

Dhaka, April 20 (IANS). Former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s party took an unexpected march in Khulna City on Sunday morning. Supporters of the Awami League came on their way to a time when the interim government gave strict orders to ban such protests. This protest march was organized under the auspices of the Khulna District Unit. It was the first major performance of the Awami League in the region since the government has fallen. According to local media reports, the banner held the protesters, in which the photos of the founders of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina, were prominently displayed. The protesters shouted slogans like ‘Sheikh Hasina, Hum Daze Nahin’, ‘Sheikh Hasina’s Sarkar, Repeated Re-Serkar’ and ‘Sheikh Hasina Hero Laut Like Hero’. A day before the protest march, Jahngir Alam Chaudhary, home adviser of the interim government, warned the security forces that disciplinary action would be taken against them if they did not stop such demonstrations of Awami League. Chaudhary said: “Police officers have received clear instructions that if they do not control these protests, they will have to bear the consequences.” Khirul Bashar, the in -Charge of the Onona police station of KhulNA metropolitan police, said that Awami League workers suddenly knocked from a vehicle, pulled out a quick march and ran away from the place. He said: “The incident happened in the morning when there wasn’t much crowd on the street. We identify protesters through CCTV footage and in other ways and will be detained soon.” Meanwhile, Bangladesh has requested to issue a red notice in a conspiracy to overthrow the interim government of Mohammad Yunus against former Prime Minister Hasina and 11 others from Interpol. The leading daily ‘The Dhaka Tribune’ of Bangladesh confirmed the development by quoting the Assistant Inspector General of Inspector (Media) Inamul Haq Sagar. He said that “this request was made based on the allegations revealed during the investigation or continuous court proceedings.” He said that “Interpol plays an important role in detecting the location of the fleeing accused living abroad. Once someone’s location is confirmed, Interpol is notified.” Sheikh Hasina has more than 100 issues ranging from slaughter to corruption in Bangladesh. She fled to India on August 5 last year. At the time, their 16 -year -old power fell due to extensive protests launched by students in the country. Most of the former ministers and senior leaders in the Awami league have either been arrested or left the country. He faced serious allegations against humanity, including crimes.
