Hindi is taught as third language in the schools of Maharashtra. The rule is implemented from this session. The Maharashtra government issued an order and decided to teach Hindi as third language to students of class one to fifth in marathi and English medium schools from the academic year 2025-26. The revised government order says that instead of obliging Hindi, the third language will be “normal”. Third language in Maharashtra: Hindi is taught as the third language in Maharashtra. Mumbai, Fun: The Maharashtra government has issued an order stating that students of class one to fifth in the state’s marathi and English medium schools will be taught Hindi as a third language. The new policy applies from the academic year 2025-26. The revised government order recently issued that Hindi ‘will be’ normally ‘instead of being mandatory, but if a school expresses the desire to study any other Indian language other than Hindi per class, they received the option to stay out of it. The Minister of School Education, Dada Bhusus, defended this decision from the government on Wednesday, saying that Hindi is talking a lot in public life. Learning it will benefit students, and it will also help students of Class 12 in higher education. According to the curriculum, he also warned against strict action against the schools that do not learn marathi. The marathi organizations, the congress and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) accused the government of implementing the ‘back door’ after initially withdrawing from this policy. The congress accused the chief minister of Devendra Fadnavis of “stabbing” in the chest of marathi people. Critics claim that the latest step of the government is contrary to the earlier statements of the Minister of Education in the school, in which he said that Hindi would not be mandatory for primary classes. Raj Thackeray, head of MNS, challenged the government, saying that Hindi would not be allowed to impose Hindi in the state. After increasing controversy over this issue and criticism of the congress and MNS, Chief Minister Fadnavis made clear that the ‘imperative’ of Hindi’s learning was removed for students and that any Indian language can now be chosen as the third language. He described the whole controversy as unnecessary. The Maharashtra school education department issued a government resolution on Tuesday as part of the implementation of ‘State Curriculum Framework for School Education 2024’ According to the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The order reads: “Those who want to learn any language other than an alternative to Hindi, they must fulfill the expectation of 20 students of each class at school. In such a situation, a teacher will be made available to the specific language or the language online. Government decisions are also said that marathi will be compulsory language in all medium schools.
