The surviving trade on human trafficking after 15 years again with unexpected heart strings | Today news
The life struggle often overshadows the challenges others face. However, an Indian influencer has recently brought a striking story to the fore. In a heartbreaking incident captured in a viral Instagram video, the content creator Anish Bhagat documented the emotional attempt of a sex worker, Roxy D., to reunite with her family after years of separation – just to be rejected at the door. Roxy, who was sold in prostitution at the age of 16 after being betrayed by her uncle, expressed her desire to visit her hometown and see her family again. Bhagat, who previously spent a day with her for a video, decided to help fulfill her wish and accompany her on the journey. “The day has finally arrived,” says Bhagat in the video, which opens with Roxy preparing for the reunion. The atmosphere, surrounded by supportive friends who brought gifts to her family, initially seemed festive. “It felt like they were all celebrating her,” Bhagat says. When she arrived in her town, Roxy pointed out her home with joy and anticipation. “Yes, this is my village … It’s my home,” she says, full of emotion. However, the reunion quickly became painful. While Bhagat was waiting outside, he saw Roxy being pushed out by her family. “That’s what happens to many of them when they try to go back,” he says in the video. Despite the rejection, Roxy composed despite the emotional setback. She placed all the gifts and a handwritten letter outside the door of her family’s home before deciding to stay in town and in the future to make another attempt at reconciliation. “She decided to stay back and try again,” Bhagat said. The video ends on a striking note, with Roxy handing over Bhagat a small gift – a sign of gratitude amid personal heart strings. The video has since received widespread attention online, with sympathy for Roxy. One Instagram user wrote: ‘I think that’s the best thing I’ve seen on the internet in the longest time. At the same time heartwarming and heartbreaking. May God bless her. ‘ “Thank you, Anish Bhagat, for using this power of social media to publish a message and make a difference in people’s lives. God bless! ‘ Say another. First published: 16 Apr 2025, 02:25 pm Ist
