Public holidays in UP on Valmiki Jayanti, will be closed school college
Lucknow, October 4 (IANS). The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh made Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti at the state level especially important and today declared a public holiday. Earlier it was an essential holiday, but now on October 7, 2025 (Tuesday) there is a holiday in government offices, schools and banks across the state. The government issued an order in this regard on Saturday and recognized Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti at the state level. The Yogi government has announced a holiday in the entire state on Valmiki Jayanti, saying that all schools, colleges, government offices and banks will remain closed on this day. The first Valmiki Jayanti was set up in the category. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced this during a program arranged in Shravasti a week ago. He said that Maharishi Valmiki is the light of Indian culture and is a symbol of harmony in society, so this day will be especially important. The state’s staff department issued an order on Saturday and made it clear that there will be a public holiday in the entire state on October 7 at the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti. On this day there will be a full holiday in all government offices, educational institutions and departments of the state. It is striking that Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti was included in the essays in the 2025 holiday list released on December 17, 2024. Essential holiday means that employees can choose a few holidays this year with their will. However, it has now been declared a public holiday. However, the order also made it clear that this holiday will not be considered in terms of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. It is noteworthy that the representatives of Maharishi Valmiki Samaic have long demanded to declare it a public holiday.
