PUI praises the Ministry of Imipas Pramono for rejecting Israeli athletes to compete in Jakarta

Jakarta – The Islamic Community Association (PUI) praises the firmness of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Imipas) and the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung to refuse Israeli athletes to participate in the World Gymnastics Championships in Jakarta in October 2025. Initially the firmness of Pramono Anung praised as regional head that would welcome Israeli athletes. According to him, the steps of Pramono as host were right. “As a host, the positioning of Mas Pram is very appropriate and reflects the humanitarian sensitivity and interests of the Indonesian population. After that, Raizal Arifin expressed his appreciation for various parties, including the Minister of Imipas. “Pui appreciates the firmness of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections led by the Commissioner -General of the Police (Ret.) Dr Agus Andrianto, regarding the decision to cancel the visa for the presence of the Israeli contingent,” he added. Not to forget, the PUI -General Chairman also highlighted the role of the Indonesian Gymnastics Federation (FGI) that continuously complies with the national regulations and receives support from the World Gymnastics Federation (Fig). “FGI has shown professionalism by ensuring that the event continues without compromising the principles,” he said. Furthermore, in his recent speech at the UN General Assembly, the General Chairman of the Pui DPP reminded President Prabowo that the recognition of Palestinian sovereignty should be a priority at international level. “As long as Palestinian sovereignty has not been determined, Indonesia should not open room for transactions or relations with Israel, nor through sports. It is in line with President Prabowo’s speech – and I ask that all national leaders in line should be consistent,” he concluded.
