Punjab: Chandigarh Crime Cell has arrested four accused with five weapons

Chandigarh, September 11 (IANS). The Chandigarh crime police, while acting on information, arrested four accused with five illegal weapons. The arrested accused are between 20 and 30 years old and their criminal records are mainly related to battles. The operation was performed by the Inspector Satwinder under the supervision of SP Crime Jasbir Singh and Deeraj Kumar. According to police, the arrested accused is three local youth and the most important arms provider of one Ludhiana. Five indigenous pistols, three magazines, ten live cartridges and two cars were found of their possession. This action is an important step towards the spread of illegal weapons in Chandigarh and combating criminal activities. According to police, two accused, Rohan and Sumit, were arrested from sector-56 on September 7. The next day his partner Mohit was also detained. At the same time, Rohtak’s most important arms provider was caught. This operation was started on the basis of secret information, which revealed that some youths have illegal weapons and can use it as a result of local enmity. SP -Crime Jasbir Singh said: “We were told that some youths have illegal weapons and that there is a battle between them. We acted on this information immediately, and our team arrested four suspects. Five indigenous pistols, magazines, cartridges and two cars have been restored. This action shows our commitment to peace and security in the city.” He said there was a local rivalry among the accused, through which they could use weapons. A case has been registered against all the accused who were arrested under the divisions concerned, and this is being questioned.
