Amritsar, September 29 (IANS). Gaurav Yadav, director of the Punjab Police General (DGP), visited Amritsar on Monday and revised the law and ordinary situation. He held an extensive review meeting with Amritsar Rural Police, Battala, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Tarn Taran and the Commissioner of Police Amritsar, as well as senior border officials. In this meeting, there was an in -depth discussion on strategies against terrorism, eliminating organized crime networks and emerging challenges. In light of the upcoming festive season, special emphasis was placed on active policing and intelligence coordination. DGP Yadav shared the information about the meeting on the social media platform X. He said the meeting was attended by additional director -general of the Police (ADGP), ADGP -against -Intelligence, Inspector -General of the Police (AIG), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSOC) Amritsar, Police Commissioner (CP) Amritsar, Deputy Inspector General (Dig) Border Series and Senior Districts. During the meeting, officials shared updates on operational preparations, joint action plans and community participation measures. The DGP has ordered all regional units to maintain high vigilance, strengthen visual policing and ensure uninterrupted coordination to provide safe and peaceful festivals. In particular, emphasis was placed on increasing monitoring in crowd management, traffic system and sensitive areas during the festive season. DGP Gaurav Yadav emphasized that Punjab police are working under zero tolerance policy on crime and terrorism. He said: “The Punjab police are fully committed to protecting peace, harmony and the benefit of citizens.” He motivated the officials to act quickly based on intelligence and watching suspicious activities. At the same time, the emphasis was on the confidence of the public through the promotion of community policing. Punjab police have already taken several steps to strengthen the security system during the festive season in Amritsar and surrounding areas. This includes the deployment of additional police forces in sensitive places, the use of drones and CCTVs for monitoring and strengthening the intelligence mechanisms. The DGP also called on the citizens to inform the police immediately about any suspicious activity so that action could be taken in time.
