Rahul Gandhi wrote a letter to Premier Modi, calling on Big Relief package for Punjab
New -Delhi, September 17 (IANS). Lok Sabha leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi wrote a letter to Premier Narendra Modi about the Punjab disaster. He called for the central government to be assessed early and provided a comprehensive relief package. Rahul Gandhi said through a letter to Premier Modi that I was writing you about the devastating flooding in Punjab. During my recent visit, I saw this heinous destruction and the human prize. More than 4 lakh hectare paddy crop has been destroyed and more than 1 million animals have been killed. Millions of people, most of whom come from marginalized communities, have lost their homes. The flood did not allow a large part of the country to farm in the near future. Even today, thousands of hectares of land are underwater and the contact of towns has been broken. The letter states that, despite the seriousness of this crisis, I have seen the best example of humanity. The community united with those who lost everything. People opened their homes for strangers and spread everything. Their generosity and dedication to help, which often occurs, even by taking a very great personal risk, was commendable. He said that the initial relief of Rs 1.600 crore declared by the central government is a great injustice to the people of Punjab. It is estimated that the state has suffered a loss of at least Rs 20,000 crore. This crisis requires even more concrete response. I urge the government to quickly assess the loss and give a comprehensive relief package. Rahul Gandhi said Punjab would rise again. In this difficult time, we must ensure every farmer, every young and every family of Punjab that India stands with them. We will need to help all possible help with the reconstruction of their future. -Ians DKP/ Share these Story Tags
