Rajasthan: ATS Busts Fake Soldier Gang, 28 arrested

Jaipur, October 10 (IANS). The Rajasthan Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS) on Thursday arrested 28 people who acquired work as security guards in the Food Corporation of India (FCI) using false army documents. According to IG (ATS) Vikas Kumar, the FCI instructed that 90 percent of its security personnel be retired military staff. He said that the ATS began to investigate based on a tip-off, which revealed that several guards were using false ex-service certificates to get a job through a private security agency. He said that ATS mocked as part of a planned operation at 31 FCI depots in Kota, Bhilwara, Udaipur and Banswara. He said that all the security guards were called on this pretext and that their retirement documents were asked to be checked. He said the documents of 28 guards were false after a thorough investigation, including false identity cards that they claimed to be retired soldiers. He further said that these people were arrested immediately and that their false documents were confiscated. Investigation revealed that each false soldier paid Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 to obtain false army documents. He said he worked in FCI at a time and earned a salary of more than Rs 21,000 a month, and that he paid a monthly commission of Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000 to the brokers who helped him find work. He further said that some of the accused work in FCI for 3-4 years, showing the depth of this rocket. ATS suspects that a larger network is involved and actively investigates its scope. The ATS has so far registered three cases and more arrests are expected as the investigation progresses. Officials said the action is part of a broader oppression against document fraud and corruption in the recruitment of safety.
