Rajasthan: Karauli police's biggest action on illegal mining, explosives and heavy machinery seized
Jaipur, September 24 (IANS). In the Karauli district of Rajasthan, police launched a large scale campaign against illegal mining. During this period, a large amount of gravel, explosive materials and machinery used in mining were seized. Officials provided information on this on Wednesday. The action was taken under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Lokesh Sonwal and supervised by additional superintendent of police Gumna Ram, Circle officials Kanhaiyalal, Anuj Shubham and Mena Mena. A joint team of Karauli police, district administration and mining division on Tuesday attacked the Kanthara Hadauti town of the Sapotra police station. The team seized about 2,790 tonnes of gravel (about 700 trolleys) illegally extracted from the Banas River. The stock was held on the riverbank near Karauli -Sawai Madhopur border (Khandar). Meanwhile, the Langra police station has also recovered explosives used in mining. The seizures include 47 Rajail-90 High-Explosive Rod (Class-2), a 925-feet explosion thread, a masi tractor, a compressor machine and iron tools such as drills, hammers and chisels. At the same time, in the second action taken near the village of Cacketiapura, police seized two hydra machines and a compressor machine. After seeing the presence of the police, the laborers involved in the mining left the equipment and fled to the nearest forest. In various cases, police have arrested two accused of illegal stone mining. Kotwali police arrested Vishnu son Sonu Kashyap, a resident of Masalpur, including a tractor with gravel. At the same time, the Mamachari police station arrested 39-year-old Bani Singh Gurjar-son Jagannath resident Mauchari with an illegal ‘Cheja’ tractor near Maholi Liquor Shop. Further investigation began with the submission of cases in the relevant divisions.
