Dholpur, October 18 (IANS). A tragic accident on Saturday in Sampau area of Dholpur district of Rajasthan plunged the entire town into mourning. Two cousins who went to graze cattle in the Parvati river near Manpur village died due to drowning. This incident, which happened in the festive atmosphere of Diwali, turned the happiness of the village into mourning. The deceased have been identified as 15-year-old Karan, son of Naresh Nai, and 18-year-old Pushpendra, son of Mavshi Lal. Both were promising students, whose demise caused an uproar among the family members. The entire incident took place on Saturday afternoon when five people, including Karan and Pushpendra, went to the river bank to graze the cattle. It is said that suddenly Karan’s foot slipped and he started drowning in deep water. To save him, Pushpendra also jumped into the river, but both of them got stuck in the deep water. Three other children who accompanied them screamed and ran away and informed their relatives in the village. As soon as the information was received, villager and Sarpanch representative Shubham Kumar reached the spot. Kaulari police station was informed, after which police station officer Harendra Singh and ASI Yogesh Tiwari with the help of villagers retrieved the bodies of both from the river. The bodies were kept in the mortuary of Basai Nawab Hospital for post-mortem examination. A class 10 student, Karan was the younger of the two children of his father, Naresh Nai. At the same time, Pushpendra was the middle son among the three children of his father Mavashi Lal. His older sister is married, and now only the younger son is left in the family. Both brothers were brilliant in studies and were the center of hope for their family. Sarpanch representative Shubham Kumar said that this accident has shocked the entire village. This tragedy which happened on the occasion of Diwali has left everyone deeply shocked. The police registered the case and started investigation. Police station officer Harendra Singh said in the preliminary investigation it appears to be an accident. The administration has assured all possible assistance to the family. Villagers have raised questions about the lack of security measures around the river. He says there were no warning signs or railings on the banks of the river, which prevents such incidents. This accident once again exposed the lack of security around rivers and reservoirs. This incident, which happened just before a big festival like Diwali, spread a wave of mourning not only in Manpur village but in the entire area. There is a demand from the administration that concrete steps should be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
