The process of by -election in two seats of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly begins

Srinagar, April 10 (IANS). Out of the total 90 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir meeting, two are currently vacant. One of these seats was evacuated by the MLA who left a seat after winning elections from two constituencies of the meeting. At the same time, the second seat belongs to the constituency of the Nagarota meeting, where the MLA died. The at -election process in both of these seats has now begun. Chief election officer of JAMMU and Kashmir Pandurang K. Poland told the IANS news agency on Thursday that an important meeting was recently held chaired by Chief Electoral Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, in which several guidelines were issued to make the election process transparent and smooth. He made it clear that no polling station should have more than 1,200 voters. The Electoral Commission acted in this direction and set up a total of 22 new polling stations, including 17 huts in the Badgam meeting and five in the Nagarota constituency. There will now be a total of 173 polling stations in Budgam, while approximately 150 polling stations will be set up in Nagarota. According to the preliminary voters list published by the Electoral Commission, there are about 1.79 Lakh registered voters in Budgam and about 1.56 lakhs in Nagarota. These figures can increase further after the final voters list comes. Preliminary voters list was submitted to the Assistant -Distributing Officer (ARO) and registered officers of these two areas were concerned. This list was made public on Wednesday. Earlier, the commission also conducted a voter review campaign so that not a single qualified voter’s name would be missed. It is noteworthy that Jammu and Kashmir had election results in October, in which Jammu and Kashmir National Conference received 42 seats, BJP 29 seats, Congress six and PDP three seats.
