Recommendation to organize Commonwealth Games in the country, CM Patel said - a proud moment for India and Gujarat

Gandhinagar, October 15 (IANS). A historic and important announcement was made on Wednesday to accelerate the development of India’s sports sector. The Commonwealth Sports Executive Council has recommended that the 24th Commonwealth Games be hosted in India in the year 2030. In addition, the Board also recommended that the hosting of these matches be given to Ahmedabad, Gujarat. There is every possibility that the centenary celebrations of the Commonwealth Games, which began in 1930, will be held in Ahmedabad. This recommendation of the Council will now be presented to the General Assembly of Commonwealth Sport to be held in November 2025. This recommendation has been made for organizing the 24th Commonwealth Games in the country due to the continuous guidance of the Prime Minister of the country, Narendra Modi, who is constantly striving to discover and hone the talent of talented sports players in India to promote the talent of talented sports players in India. Due to the tireless efforts of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, India is constantly progressing in the field of sports. As a result, the prospects of Ahmedabad hosting the 24th Commonwealth Games under the centenary year of the Commonwealth Games have become better. Welcoming this moment, Union Home Minister Amit Shah congratulated all the citizens of the country and said that the credit for this goes to Modi’s continuous efforts. India is going to get this honor only because of the strong infrastructure related to sports and the preparation of the players and bring them at par with the international level. “This is indeed a proud moment for Gujarat and India,” Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said. He lauded the foresight of Prime Minister Modi and welcomed the decision of the Executive Council of Commonwealth Sports to select Ahmedabad for the Commonwealth Games. It is worth noting that the 2030 Commonwealth Games will not only be a sports competition but also a celebration of 100 years of an international sports festival. These Games will symbolize a century of sportsmanship and cooperation between the 74 countries of the Commonwealth, and the city of Ahmedabad, Gujarat is all set to witness this history. This success of India will strengthen the national vision of ‘Developed India@2047’, where world-class sports, infrastructure and youth development are linked to the growth story of our country. Describing the event as a proud moment for India and Gujarat, Gujarat Sports Minister Harsh Sanghvi said that the 100th Commonwealth Games to be held in Ahmedabad is not only about hosting a global sporting event but will also be a golden opportunity to present a ‘confident, capable, future-oriented and new India’ to the entire world. The Government of Gujarat is fully committed to pave the way for the next century of Commonwealth Sports while honoring the 100 years of the Commonwealth’s legacy. The proposal for the event, jointly submitted by the Government of India, the Government of Gujarat and the Commonwealth Games Association of India, promoting the principles of Commonwealth Sport’s ‘Games Reset’ – strength, inclusiveness, sustainability and legacy, was strongly appreciated by the Council. The 2030 Commonwealth Games will further strengthen India’s long-term ambition to become a global sports hub.
