Renault Boreal 7-seater SUV: New Boreal is coming to create an explosion in the family car segment, know the launch date and expected price.

Renault is once again strengthening its hold in the SUV segment in India. The company has confirmed that its new 7-seater SUV, the Renault Boreal, will be launched in mid-2026. This SUV is basically an extended version of the third generation Duster, which will get more space and premium features. The company will initially launch the 5-seater Duster in the first quarter of 2026, followed by the 7-seater Boreal a few months later. According to reports, the launch could take place between July and August 2026, although the date could also be pushed to early 2027. Design and dimensions The design of the Renault Boreal is very similar to the Duster, but it is longer and more spacious. The global model is 4.56 meters long, while in India it can be extended to around 4.7 meters to provide more space in the third row. Its ground clearance is 213 mm, which is considered perfect for Indian roads. The front profile features Renault’s signature grille, new diamond logo, LED headlights and robust bumper, giving it a strong and adventurous look. On the side, the wheel arch cladding, roof rails and 17 to 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels give it a true SUV feel. At the rear, Y-shaped LED taillights, roof spoiler and washboard style design further enhance its modern look. Interior and safety The interior of the Renault Boreal is modern and feature-rich. A 7-inch or 10-inch digital instrument cluster enhances the driving experience. The flat bottom multifunction steering wheel and ambient lighting with 48 color options give it a premium feel. For comfort, features like panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable seats and powered tailgate are expected to be available. Music lovers can look forward to a 10-speaker sound system from Harman/Kardon. In terms of safety, it may have advanced features like six airbags, ADAS, hill control, ESC and 360-degree camera, which will make it even safer. Engine and performance The Boreal will have the same engine setup as the 5-seater Duster. It will have a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 151bhp and 250Nm of torque. It will have the option of 6-speed manual and 7-speed DCT (dual clutch automatic) transmission. Renault is also working on a 1.2-litre mild hybrid variant, which will offer better mileage and lower emissions. A more powerful hybrid version is also expected to arrive soon after launch. This variant will have a 1.6-litre engine, two electric motors and a 1.2 kWh battery, producing around 140bhp. Expected Prices and Variants Renault Boreal is expected to be priced between ₹16 lakh to ₹26 lakh (ex-showroom). The company will offer it in variants like Evolution, Techno and Iconic. Boreal is designed to be available to middle class families at an affordable price. This SUV will compete in the Indian market with the likes of Hyundai Alcazar, Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700.
