Zelensky in front of Unga asks for global action against Russia, says 'without power peace will not prevail'

On Monday (September 22), Russia and Ukraine exchanged accusations for deadly drone strikes directed in civilian areas, as Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky prepared for a ‘very intense week’ of diplomacy at the UN General Assembly in New York, where the Security Council would discuss the more than three years. “The schedule already contains nearly two dozen meetings with leaders from different countries, from all parts of the world,” Zelensky said at Telegram. He added that he was planning to meet US President Donald Trump during the week to push a peace agenda. Zelensky hosted a ceasefire and a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, although Moscow expressed reservations about some proposals. Zelensky: “Without power, peace will not prevail” The Ukrainian leader emphasized the need for global resolution against Russian aggression: “It is extremely important for the world to strengthen the world’s determination for strong action – because without power peace will not prevail.” He reported that the Russian forces have launched more than 1,500 strike drones, 1.280 sliding bombs and 50 missiles of different types in Ukraine over the past week. “More than 132,000 foreign components were found in the weapons out of dozens of countries,” Zelenskyy said. Ukraine still insists on stronger sanctions against Russia to combat its military operations. European concerns about the tensions of Russian provocations have increased internationally as Russia’s attacks are threatening neighboring countries. Russian drones have reportedly landed on Polish soil, and Russian fighter jets entered the Estonian airspace, which asked for a meeting of the UN -VN Security Council. Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna calls the intrusion a ‘dangerous escalation’, adding that ‘Russia’s dangerous behavior cannot be tolerated.’ Russia has denied any violations of the airspace. Deputy Ambassador Dmitri Polyanskiy dismissed the criticism as an attempt to blame Russia for everything. Latvian President Edgars Rinkevics warned that Russia was testing the reaction of the NATO and tried to redirect Western resources of Ukraine. Russian strikes on Ukrainian civilians killed at least seven Russian aircraft overnight the southern city of Zaporizhzhia, three and two wounded, according to Ivan Fedorov, head of the regional administration. “None of the sites had anything to do with military infrastructure,” Fedorov said. The attack targeted residential buildings, shopping malls, a parking lot and critical infrastructure. The Ukrainian Air Force intercepted 132 out of the 141 strike and the lure drones were launched overnight. Ukraine strikes Russian areas Ukraine’s drone attacks have also inflicted casualties in Russia. In Belgorod, three were killed and 10 wounded, according to Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. In Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov said three were killed and 16 were injured in Foros from the Ukrainian drones. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that no military targets were hit in the places and said 114 Ukrainian drones were taken over several regions early Monday.
