RG CAR CASE: The parents of the victim raised questions about the NCRB report, 'Kolkata claims the safest'
Kolkata, October 4 (IANS). The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) recently released a report. In this he described Kolkata as the safest city across the country. A training doctor was killed after a rape last year at the RG Kar Medical College. His parents responded to this report. He raised many questions and denied this latest report. According to the NCRB report, in 2023 (the latest available), the least observable offenses per lakh people are registered in Kolkata, which is the fourth consecutive time. The parents of the victim rejected this part of the NCRB report on Saturday, claiming that these conclusions are not based on field-based research, and this report may be prepared to please someone. The victim of the victim said: “Was my daughter safe, and also at her workplace? Does the elderly woman live in Kulatali in the South -24 Parganas district, who was a victim of gang rape this week? No one is safe here. I don’t know who the report was preparing. The father of the victim expressed doubts about the credibility of those who prepared the report in NCRB. The victim of the victim said: “I don’t know who works to prepare such a report in NCRB. If I also assume that Kolkata is the safest city in the country, it doesn’t mean that the security situation in other cities of India is unthinkable? According to him, the only possibility that the Kolkata policemen are not registering most of the complaints filed by the ordinary people, which is why the figures of crime in the city are less. He further said, “We may have an idea of reality after our daughter leaves. Maybe experiences are the same.” According to the latest NCRB report, 83.9 legal offenses per lakh people in Kolkata were registered in 2023, which is the lowest in 19 cities. -Ians kr/
