Banyuwangi Regency Government Gaet Austria and UAE expands the processing of circulars
Jakarta – Banyuwangi Regency government expands the circular management program that reaches all districts. The construction of this waste treatment facility is part of the Banyuwangi Hijau program, the collaboration of Borealis Corporations, Austria and Clean Rivers, Uni Emirate Arab. The program was officially launched by the Regent of Banyuwangi Ipuk Fiestiandani with Anthony Berthold of Borealis Austria, and Deborah Baccus Mitra of the United Arab Emirates, in the Banyuwangi Hall, Thursday (5/22/2025). In 2018, Banyuwangi, together with Project Stop, began managing circular waste with the introduction of two 3R TPS 3R, namely TPS 3R Bio Mandiri Lestari in Tembokrejo and Sidoayu villages in Sumberberas towns, Muncar District. This 3R TPS reaches 90,000 residents of a total of 130,000 people in the Muncar district, managing more than 116,000 tonnes of waste and recruiting more than 100 local workers. Furthermore, in 2022, the program was expanded by the Banyuwangi Hijau Phase 1 program, with a 3R TPS, in Balak Village, Songgon District, which processed waste for 47 towns in six sub -districts, namely Songgon, Semongg, Genteng, Singejuruh, Rogojampi and Kabat, with a total of 15,000 with 60,000 people. “Later, except the 3R TPS in Purwoharjo, two interim transition stations (spa) trash cans will soon be built in two places,” Ipuk added. The two spas that entered the Banyuwangi Hijau Phase 3 program will each manage 50 tonnes of waste per day. Thus, the total capacity of three new TPs will reach 260 tonnes per day. While the representative of the UAE, Deborah said that the UAE government supported this program because he saw the dedication of Banyuwangi that successfully executed the management of sustainable waste in the community. The UAE team has first -hand witness to the waste management in Muncar and Balak. “We support the initiative performed by Banyuwangi, which focuses on waste management that has an economic, environmental and social impact. The Banyuwangi Ending Reign Management Program is a good example for other regions in Indonesia,” he said. While Borealis Austria’s Anthony Berthold said he was proud to support Banyuwangi to expand the management of circulars.
