A great relief for the tribal districts of Lahaul and Spiti was that the Chimaret and Tingrate Panchayats of the isolated Miyar Valley rejoined the rest of the country yesterday after being cut for 42 days due to heavy snowfall. The horrible snowfall on February 25 disrupted 32 km of important road connection from Udaipur to the last village of Miar Valley. Due to the closure of the movement of vehicles, the residents have experienced major problems in transporting and utilizing essential services. Relief was found when the Department of Public Works (PWD) successfully cleaned the snow blocked road and repaired the movement of vehicles. This important recovery helped the residents to visit the subdivision headquarters Udaipur and further district headquarters Kelong. The road was blocked in several places due to heavy snowfall and snowfall in three major drains – Shakoli, Bhengi and Swilly. PWD employees faced extreme weather conditions to clean heavy snow and ensure safe routes. PWD Executive Engineer (Xen) Pawan Rana confirmed the reopening of the road and appreciated the Department’s tireless efforts to deal with this difficult challenge. He also instructed officials to perform a thorough inspection of the road in the coming days so that bus services in the area can resume as soon as possible. Share this story -tags
