New Delhi, October 18 (IANS). The ODI series between India and Australia will start from October 19. Gill to take command of ODI team on Australia tour. The captain told that he considered Rohit-Kohli as his idol since childhood. Shubman Gill leads a team that has former captains like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. This is considered as the first step in preparation for the upcoming one-day tournament, which will be played in the year 2027. However, Gill made it clear that there was no change in his relations with the two senior players. “I think the story outside is different, but nothing has changed between us. Everything is the same. It’s very helpful,” captain Gill said on the eve of the first one-dayer in Perth. “Whatever they feel, their experience, whatever they’ve learned, whether it’s the field reading or whatever situation they’re facing, I go to them and ask what they think. How would they have done it if they were in my place? Then I make a decision based on my understanding of the game. I like to know people’s thoughts,” said the 26-year-old player. He said: “Whenever I doubt anything, I go to him. Take his suggestions. Take his advice. He never hesitates to tell me something. I think that’s the real wealth of experience.” He said: “These are the same players I idolized in my childhood. The kind of hunger they inspire inspires me. It is a great honor for me to lead such legends of cricket. I am sure there will be many moments in this series where I will be able to learn from them. If I get into a difficult situation, I will not hesitate to take advice from them.” Gill said, “I have had several discussions with both Rohit and Virat about how to take the team forward. I think these learnings and experiences will help our team moving forward.” –IANS RSG
