China is elected as a member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council

Beijing, June 5 (IANS). On June 4, the United Nations General Assembly elected some members of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (Ecosoc) in which China was also successfully elected. Ecosoc seats are assigned according to the region. The Mahasabha voted by secret voices. 18 Countries representing Asia-Pacific, Africa, Latin America and Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Western Europe and other regions were elected. The term of office begins from 1 January 2026 to a period of three years. Elected countries are: China, India, Lebanon, Turkmenistan in the Asia-Pacific region; Burundi, Chad, Mozambique, Sierra Leone in Africa; Ecuador, Peru, St. Kitts and Nevis in Latin America and the Caribbean; Croatia, Russia, Ukraine in Eastern Europe; Australia, Finland, Norway, Türkiye in Western Europe and other regions.
