S Jaishankar and Marco Rubio agreed on 'continuous collaboration' in primary areas
New York, September 22 (IANS). India’s Foreign Minister Jaishankar met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday. In this meeting, the two leaders discussed bilateral and international issues and agreed to maintain sustainable contact. After the meeting, Jaishankar wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, “many bilateral and global issues were discussed in our conversation. We agreed to the importance of continuous progress in progress in primary areas.” He described the meeting as ‘good’ and said that we would have contact. The special thing is that the first bilateral meeting of Marco Rubio was also the same, in which he met the Indian Foreign Minister. Before the meeting, the two leaders shook hand in front of the media, but answered no questions. The conference room was decorated with Indian and American flags and flowers. Although there were differences between India and the US about business issues and oil purchases of Russia, the collaboration between the two countries is strategically strong. An example of this is the Quad Group, which includes Australia and Japan, in addition to India and the United States, and whose focus is to maintain stability in the Indo-Pacific sector. Earlier in July, Rubio held a meeting with Quad’s foreign ministers at Washington DC, describing India and other countries as the ‘important strategic partners’ of America. Recently, there were talks in New -Delhi about bilateral trade agreement between India and the US. This included Brendon Lynch of the US and Rajesh Aggarwal of India. India described this conversation as ‘positive and prophet’. On the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump congratulated him and thanked him for ‘The Ukraine War’. Premier Modi also wrote in response: “I am also committed to taking India-US partnership to new heights.” However, in the midst of these positive steps, the announcement of the US implementation of new strict rules regarding H-1B visas has raised concerns. The Trump government plans to increase the visa fee by $ 100,000, which can close the US doors for many professionals. -Ians VKU/DSC shares this story Tags
