The Uttar Pradesh law meeting on Thursday approved the Uttar Pradesh Legislative and Amendment Bill (Ministerial Facilities), 2025, as part of an important step, paving the way for the increase in salary and grants of ministers, legislators and former MAs. According to the new terms, the monthly salary of ministers will rise from Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000, while MLAs will now receive Rs 35,000 per month. In addition, the constituency allowance for each MLA is increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000 per month. Railway coupons, which used to be Rs 4,25 lakh per year, will now be increased to Rs 5 Lakh. The telephone allowance was increased from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000 per month. Each MLA also receives Rs 30,000 per month as secretary allowance. With this amendment, MLAs now receive Rs 2.96 Lakh per month instead of Rs 2,11 Lakh. This amount also contains travel coupons. Ministers get Rs 3.05 lakh per month instead of Rs 2.21 Lakh. The increase in pension of former MLAs was also increased from Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000 per month. In general, salary and pension were increased by 40 percent. The new rates will be rebuilt from April 1, 2025. The medical allowance of the laws has also been increased from Rs 30,000 to Rs 45,000. With this increase, state ministers will get about Rs 78,000 a month and MLAs will get about Rs 68,000 more. This is the first such increase in the salaries and grants of elected representatives in the state over nine years. A committee was compiled on this proposal after the demands of MLAs of different political parties.
