Minister of Social Affairs says Prabowo's strategy to increase welfare is starting to produce results

Jakarta – Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos), Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) said President Prabowo Subianto’s strategy to improve social welfare is beginning to show results. It has been proven that the poverty rate has decreased and the number of social assistance recipients who have graduated or moved up a class has increased. “One strategy is to consolidate one data, the National Social and Economic Single Data (DTSEN),” Gus Ipul said in his statement on Monday (20/10/2025). He said this after a meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (20/10). He explained that when each ministry/institution has its own data, there is a strong sense of sectoral ego. Through DTSEN, the spirit of cooperation is more pronounced. PAGE TO CONTINUE CONTENT “That there is cooperation, there is a willingness to integrate programs, that’s first,” he said. Gus Ipul continued that within the framework of achieving wider social assistance (Bansos), there were additions and thickening of social assistance. Thickening is intended for those who have regularly received social assistance and additionally for new recipients. “What used to be over 20 million is now over 35 million,” he continued. He also mentioned regular social assistance beneficiary families (KPM) who would receive a social assistance increase of IDR 900 thousand for 3 months. “From today it started to be paid out via Himbara and via PT Pos. The regular ones are of course sent directly via an account via Himbara. But the new ones and also some of the old ones are via PT Pos,” he said. Furthermore, regarding DTSEN, he assessed that this single data was able to encourage all ministries to better integrate programs. When the data are the same, the interventions are mutually reinforcing. “This is one strategic step that is quite effective in unifying programs not only at the center but also at the regions. The regions also now have the same data,” he said. According to him, programs can be shared through the same data. For example, some add programs from the center, while others reach wider targets. “So there is actually a willingness to coordinate and communicate with each other. I don’t feel, frankly I don’t feel any sectoral ego during the president’s administration. And this is very important, the impact will be felt all the way down,” he concluded.
