SAMB Shiva Festival tried to bring India's culture to youth: Acharya Jonas Masetti
New -delhi, October 3 (IANS). Acharya Jonas Masetty, a Brazilian yoga guru and Padma Shri, took a unique step to spread India’s rich cultural and vedical traditions to youth. He launched the ‘Samb Shiva Festival’, which is an intercultural program offered in large universities in India. The purpose of this initiative is to connect the youth with their cultural roots and motivate them to take up Vedanta’s values in their lives. Acharya Jonas believes that this award is not just an honor for him, but an opportunity to deepen his responsibility to India. He said: “After receiving the Padma Shri Award, my family and I have the feeling that we should do something for India. We decided that the Samba Shiva festival could be a strong medium to explain the importance of their culture to youth.” This festival tries to present the Indian culture, Vedanta and Vedic traditions in a modern context, so that youth are motivated to adopt it in their daily lives. He said that the biggest obstacle in understanding Vedanta and Vedic traditions is language. To overcome this, this festival acts as a bridge. Acharya Jonas said: “We have more than two Lakh people in the West, who live the knowledge and values of Vedanta while living a normal life. Men, women, youth and the elderly are all part of this tradition. Samba Shiva Festival contains cultural performances, lectures, workshops and dialogues, which try to reconcile between Indian and Western cultures. The event not only emphasizes the ancient traditions of India, but also shows that these values are also relevant in modern life. This effort by Acharya Jonas is an important step towards the promotion of cultural unity between India and the world. -Ians Aks/DSC
